Section chief of Product Management
My previous job was an operator at a printer company. I chose to work at PACKWELL INC. to make the most of my experience using computers at my previous job.
When I first started working at Packwell, I was assigned at the Product Management department; a department to support and backup the manufacture.
The work of product management differs in every industries and by companies.
The main operation of this department is to arrange the materials required in the process of the manufacture. After the Sales department receives an order from the customer, my role is to order the materials for the product and to start running the product line for manufacture.
It goes without saying that no matter how much preparation, the manufacture will not proceed unless the materials used for the package are available. As soon as we receive orders from the customers, Product Management will order and prepare the materials required immediately to start the manufacturing. If the start is delayed, all the subsequent processes will be affected, which will eventually cause inconvenience to the customers. Hence, Product Management should constantly have in mind to be precise and speedy in its operation.
However, to arrange the materials in the optimal amount in the shortest time is also required. To estimate and order the optimal amount of materials will eliminate any ineffective process in manufacturing. I would check the customer’s order repeatedly to determine the necessary amount of the materials, by making contact to the related parties if necessary.
Before joining Packwell, I was not good at communicating with people, so I chose a department which I thought that communication is not required, but the main job would be using computers. However, it was a big misunderstanding. After I joined Packwell, I have learned that communication is critical in this department.
Various parties are involved; customers, Sales department, people working at the factory and other companies cooperating in the manufacture. Owing to those connection, I have improved in communicating with others. The future goal is to acquire design skills. By understanding the fundamental of package manufacturing, I feel that more accurate operation will be established in the department.I would like to continue studying and to pursue the path of production management.
